Are Those Links In Your Page Useless ? Check using this tool !

Since I think the reason Google punished me by reducing pagerank is because of selling links, how Google know about those link ? Are they have “spider bot” in Text-Link-Ads database to know which site selling URL ? :)

Maybe you can check using this tool whether links on your blog are useless or not :

Useless Link Detector from Text Link Center.

What do you see after using this tool ?

So far I can find out, the link is suspected by Google as paid link or at least Google think useless for your reader :

  1. Some links on your blogroll ! I know, maybe some of them is linked to your friends or family blogs (that perhaps have different interest with you as well as the topic you prefer to write)
  2. All paid links
  3. Some referral links
  4. Technorati tag links
  5. ….. You list here

I noticed also, those link using image (image link) and javascript will be excluded from the list.

I am not sure the tool give 100% information correctly, but you can use it as one of your reference. (And of course I will not remove the links considered useless blindly)

Beside those links, any other reason ?

Oh my God ! If you read my past post few months ago, I mentioned that I “copied” pagerank of this domain to another one. (At that time I can easily get pagerank PR0 to PR3 by made permanent redirect to the new domain). This domain pagerank even increased to 4 Few months ago, I tried to use back this domain till now (like you see now)

But all above story just left as story. Google took back the “borrowed pagerank”, and divided it evenly for both.

I know some people very happy with pagerank increase, and they PLAN to sell links in those blogs after they got higher PageRank. Ironically, later on Google will push down them (like Google did to me :( ).I am really curious, what is the real cause of this update ? If due to selling links, how big it will affect ? If number of back link (you know already that Google is very stingy about it) how to weight of incoming links ?

I cannot answer … I am very happy if someone give me enlightenment about this :)

Pagerank Update

Only yesterday I noticed that my pagerank of this blog was decreased from PR4 to PR2. I have another blog also decrease from and to the same level. So, I lost 4 points :) . But luckily, I have two other blog (that I never update) that have pagerank increase from PR0 to PR1 :). So, I still lost 2 points.

What does it mean ? Sure, I’m quite sad for this pagerank adjustment. But after that I know many popular blogs also got this adjustment. Some of the experts said probably Google trying to punish those blogs due to selling links in their site. Indeed, I sell link in this blog. Before the update, I have sold one link. After the update, one more link was sold. But, I have never sold any link in the other blog.

Currently I have no plan to remove those sold links. Maybe I never promote this site and never update properly. Probably I will do so if the decrement is continues :) One think I learn is, need to optimize my site on site and off one.

Other thing I realized, uncle Google has removed all back links to this blog ! So, this site has zero back link. Aaagh ..

Do You Really Need This 500 GB Hosting ?

DreamhostActually I only knows since few days ago when logged in into my dreamhost control panel. Dreamhost increase their hosting space to 500 GB and 5 TB bandwidth to celebrate their 10 years of hosting business anniversary. I only found single price plan for their hosting instead of three ones with as low as 5.95/month (for 10 years payment in advance.

As someone left comment in my previous comment that this mega giga space is just gimmick or other review said the plan is overselling, but it is still worth to play around with this space, you can add domains as well as MySQL database as many as you want. If you want, you can go ahead to use their service. So far, I myself found no problem with this hosting. When I wrote this post, Dreamhost give me 261880.000 MB of space and 5104 GB of bandwidth and I only use very small portion of them :)

Singapore Handphone Price Guide

If you want to upgrade your mobile phone with your line, maybe you can check out the price from your provider in their website. You do not need to queue or go down to the shop to check the price directly. In Singapore, the official price of handphone is updated in weekly basis.

Here is the address of each mobile line provider, most of the prices are with 2-year contract. You may find the price from the same provider for the same brand and type is different, depend on the contract price plan.

  1. Singtel,
  2. StarHUB
  3. M1

For non contract price, maybe you can visit to HardwareZone website. Some retailers put their price in this website. Maybe not so accurate to find which is the cheapest one because only two or three retailers, but I think still useful for reference.

If you have any more comprehensive information from other website, please do not hesitate to leave your information in comment section below. :)

OneSIM Indosat from Starhub

Starhub LogoToday I received email from my ex-office colleague about OneSIM Indosat from Starhub. He quoted an article from Hardwarezone about this matter. The official information from Starhub Singapore you can find in this page.

With The OneSIM Indosat, you can now stay contactable on both your StarHub Mobile number and an Indonesia mobile number from Indosat with just one mobile phone regardless of whether you are in Singapore or Indonesia.

They offer better pricing scheme for calling Singapore from Indonesia compared with the normal one without OneSIM. Almost all the prices cut by 20% but with additional SGD 5 for service fee. I think it is good news for those Starhub subscribers who traveling to Indonesia frequently. I currently subscribed to Starhub as a Hubber but I didn’t use the Starhub line but my wife. Unfortunately, she is a Telkomsel’s subscriber and it is “very difficult” to switch to other GSM providers, including Indosat. Even the price is cut by 20%, she still prefer to use VoIP 01017 for Telkom / Telkomsel that much cheaper to call me in Singapore. So we still keep to use OneSIM for OneNumber :) .
