The WNR854T makes it easy for even a novice to set up a wireless network: just plug the included Ethernet cable from your LAN into the device and insert the included CD into any computer on the network, which will provide step-by-step instructions. The WNR854T includes a stand for vertical placement.
The WNR854T employs a web-based interface for configuration for compatibility with any computer with a web browser. The firmware is also upgradeable via the web interface so you can be sure your router will always be up-to-date.
New Technology Means Blazing Speeds and Backwards Compatibility
The WNR854T complies with the latest 802.11n draft specification which allows for speeds up to 300 Mbps; this maximum speed can be achieved when used with other TopDog devices. By utilizing MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) technology, the WNR854T has speed and range far surpassing the older 802.11g standard. If you still have computers that use 802.11g or 802.11b, don't fret as the router is backwards compatible with the older wireless standards and can be set so all your computers can connect to the network. The WNR854T will automatically figure out the connection type and work accordingly.

- Satisfied consumerI upgraded from a Linksys 802.11b wireless router to this model. Setup was a snap, and I get a 3X increase in download speed to my home PC connected via wire (not a wireless connection) over my Optimum Online cable service. This alone was worth the cost to me. The boost when I'm wireless is great too. Another huge improvement is that I had to reset the Linksys router every other day or so, because the wireless access would not work after a day or so. - It will breakEveryone's warnings here are true - believe it. Mine worked longer than some, but not as long as it should. Make sure you do some research on the Web before you buy this router. You will find most, if not all units eventually suffer from the blue ring of death where the power light comes on, but nobody is home. If it makes it over a year, you're lucky (except that your warranty will be over, but at least then the end is quick and you can move on).

- Don't Buy This Product or any Netgear ProductI bought a Netgear WND3300 and Started having problem from the beginning. It lasted barely 2 weeks. Their tech support in India did a firware upgrade and rendered the first unit useless. I had that unit replaced and the second unit was even more useless. I was in fact sent a refurbished unit that was registered to someone else. This new unit had just been repackaged and didn't work at all. After 3 hours with tech support and customer service, Netgear decided that they would upgrade me to the WNR854T. ... Read More

- Severe design issueI have to admit I didn't believe any of the bad reviews and bought the router. It worked fine for 6 month before it went dead and only the green power light works. Search and you will find 100s with the same problem online. The Netgear support does know about the issue but has no solution. You get the offer to purchase premium support for min $65 for the next 6 month but this will not fix the issue.
As there is no solution if you pay for a new one you will get the same issue again after some month. ... Read More

- Don't waste your money on this product.This router is simply too unreliable. I've wasted way too much time troubleshooting various problems over the past 12 months. I've been using routers for over 15 years and this one is infuriating. Do not waste your money on this - look at all the negative reviews! I do hope someone at NetGear reads these reviews.
