Universal Remote Manual
A Universal remote manual is a guide for the user to be able to set up the universal remote to be operated between different devices. The Mercury II universal remote features more than 47 transmitting keys. The Power button is lighted at the back with a LED button, this gives a feedback that’s visual to the user and also provides easy access to the programming features on the Universal remote. This universal remote has four device buttons for TV, VCR, DVD and STB. This remote was initially used to control the Fortec Star Mercury II FTA but now has expanded to support other brands of electronic devices.
The Basic Remote Operations are done through the LED Backlit Power button which is found on the top left hand corner of the universal remote control, this will indicate the occurrence of an IR transmission signal. The LED button also indicates when the remote is ready for programming. This remote uses Infra Red Transmission.
You will be able to find two AAA batteries which are inclusive of the remote, once the batteries are installed the LED key will flash if any key is pressed. There are three ways to program your remote control: Manual Programming, Code Search Programming and Auto Scan Programming. Manual Programming is done by following these steps. Make sure to turn on the device that you wish to operate (TV, DVD) then press and hold both the corresponding keys of the device; the OK button needs to be pressed at the same time. This needs to be done for about three seconds until the LED key stays on. Then enter the three digit code from the brand list onto the universal remote control until the electronic devices switches off. If the device switches off, press and release the Power key on the universal remote so that the device is responding to the remote. After that press and release the device buttons and the LED button should blink three times. This indicates that the remote is set correctly.
To program using the Code Search button, switch on the electronic devices to be operated. Press and hold the key for the device to be operated and then switch on the OK button at the same time for about three seconds until the LED button stays on. Bring the universal remote closer to the device and the press and release the CH+/CH- key to either increase or decrease the code number. Keep on doing this until the devices switches off. It may take few seconds or minutes for the remote to search for the code. Once the devices turns off, release the Power button and press and release the device button once more.
Auto Scanning Programming is done similar to that of the other types except the universal remote needs to be pointed to the devices and release the Play button. This will make the remote to scan the codes separately.
