Residential Wiring

If you are currently in the process of building your home, you would have realized that it is indeed quite a task. There is simply so much to do and everything needs to be done perfectly. One of the most neglected issues when building a house is planning adequate wiring. Residential wiring can be a complicated process and you may not see why it is so important now. However, it is one issue that has to be solved before the house is built. Let us face facts. No one wants wires wiring running along the floor. Hence take residential wiring seriously.

If you are familiar with wiring, you may want to obtain a license and wire your own home. Make sure you are familiar with the general residential wiring guidelines. Wires that curry current are usually black or red in color. Take care when dealing with such wires. Electricity can kill! Return wires are generally white in color. The ground wire is normally green in color. When wiring the house, make sure that there is no live current flowing in any of the wires. Make sure that fuses and trip switches are installed with every appliance. These are important components of residential wiring. When deciding to wire your home, plan ahead. Residential wiring is a complicated process and you should plan for items and equipment you intend on purchasing in the future. Examples of this would be new electric ovens and other machines that consume a lot of current. Hence these need to be taken into account before you start wiring your house.

When placing plug points and switches, picture how they are going to be used. For example, switches should be placed so that they can easily be used upon entering a room. However, they should not be placed behind doors as this is very inconvenient. This hold true for plug points as well. They should be strategically placed so that they can be best made use of. Plug points next to bedside tables are extremely handy. In places like the entertainment room or the kitchen, you may want to increase the load of the circuit breaker as these places tend to consume more power. This will enable multiple high powered devices to work at the same time. Residential wiring should also be added to blueprints of the house. Furthermore, remember that residential wiring is a complicated process and should be given careful thought before acted upon.
