I use this simple tool to pick the html color code of a pixel pointed by cursor located on the monitor screen. I use it to combine Google Adsense code and color of WordPress theme. Sometimes we do not know what color actually is used for WordPress theme that we downloaded from the other party, unless we open the style.css files in its folder or use a tool to see the hex value. Just point the cursor to any location on the screen to color you need to know and press F6. It will save the html color code to your clipboard. You can get this freeware from Cosmin Software website.
You can find the similar tool like this, eg Colour Detector which also can detect hex as well as long value with bigger file size. I think Macromedia included similar capability in their Dreamweaver application.
